Autopause for running and cycling
The Apple Watch is the best smartwatch for cyclists. Not only can the Apple Watch track bike rides (and e-bikes, thanks to watchOS 8), but it also offers turn-by-turn bike routes via Apple Maps and safety tools such as fall detection.

There's a hidden setting that allows the Apple Watch to better track your rides. This secret setting is not enabled by default. You can enable auto-pause for outdoor cycling workout tracking. Auto-pause is also available for running workouts, complementing the Apple Watch Workout app running upgrades in watchOS 9. So whether you’re someone who tracks bikes or runs with your Apple Watch, you should enable auto-pause for accurate time-to-distance readings.

1. Open Settings on your Apple Watch;
2. Tap General, then swipe down and tap Workout;
3. At the top, tap the toggle next to Auto Pause.
You can also enable this feature on your iPhone:
1. Open the Watch app;
2. Swipe down and tap Workout;
3. Tap the toggle next to Running Auto Pause.
